Welcome! We hope you find your visit to our web site informative, and that you'll find many reasons here to visit our beautiful and historic lakefront downtown.

The Sandusky Main Street Association is dedicated to the eight Main Street Principles of Revitalization:

• Comprehensive approach
• Rely on quality
• Utilize public/private partnerships
• Change attitudes
• Focus on existing assets
• Self-help
• Incremental approach
• Implementation-oriented

The benefits of a Main Street program are many. It will:

• Protect and strengthen existing tax base
• Increase merchant sales
• Establish positive image
• Create visual appeal and function
• Attract new businesses
• Develop new housing opportunities
• Foster new job opportunities
• Increase investment downtown
• Preserve history and culture

The National Trust for Historic Preservation created and demonstrated the Main Street concept beginning in 1977. In time, the four-point approach was developed to include organization; design; economic restructuring; and promotion. The Sandusky Main Street Association is proud to have earned an official Main Street Program designation in 2003 through the Ohio Main Street Program and a National Main Street Community designation in 2005.

More information about the Ohio Main Street Program is available online. For details on Sandusky's Main Street Program, visit our About Us page.

Join the Sandusky Main Street Association! Just complete our online membership application form or click here for a downloadable printable version of the form (Adobe Acrobat Reader required).
